Varanasi

Overview: Varanasi, also known as Kashi or Benares, is one of the oldest living cities in the world, located along the banks of the Ganges River in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is regarded as the spiritual capital of India and holds immense significance for Hindus.

  • Hindu Pilgrimage: Varanasi is a major pilgrimage destination, where many Hindus aspire to die and be cremated to attain moksha (liberation from the cycle of rebirth).
  • Temples and Ghats: The city features over 80 ghats, such as Dashashwamedh Ghat and Manikarnika Ghat, where rituals and ceremonies are performed. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the most sacred sites.

  • Arts and Crafts: Varanasi is renowned for its Banarasi silk sarees, intricate handicrafts, and its rich musical and artistic traditions.
  • Festivals: The city hosts vibrant festivals like Diwali, Makar Sankranti, and Ganga Mahotsav, attracting visitors and devotees from around the world.

  • Banaras Hindu University (BHU): Founded in 1916, BHU is one of the largest residential universities in Asia and is known for its contributions to education and research.

 

Allahabad (Prayagraj)

Overview: Allahabad, officially known as Prayagraj, is located at the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical Sarasvati rivers. It is one of the holiest cities in India and holds a special place in Hindu mythology and culture.

Spiritual Significance:

  • Triveni Sangam: The confluence of the three rivers is considered extremely sacred. Many pilgrims come to take a holy dip, especially during religious festivals.
  • Kumbh Mela: Allahabad is famous for hosting the Kumbh Mela, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, occurring every 12 years. Millions of devotees participate in this massive event.

Cultural Heritage:

  • Historical Importance: The city has a rich history and has been a center for political and cultural movements in India. It was the site of the Indian National Congress's first session in 1885.
  • Literary Contributions: Allahabad is home to many prominent literary figures and has a vibrant intellectual culture, often referred to as a "city of poets."

Education:

  • University of Allahabad: Established in 1887, it is one of the oldest universities in India and has a strong emphasis on arts, sciences, and law.

Connection Between Varanasi and Allahabad

Both Varanasi and Allahabad are pivotal in Hindu tradition, embodying deep spiritual significance. While Varanasi is known for its focus on life, death, and liberation through the Ganges, Allahabad symbolizes the confluence of rivers and the communal aspects of spirituality, especially highlighted during the Kumbh Mela.

Day 01:- Varanasi
Once you arrive in Varanasi airport or railway station, you will meet the representative of Hindustan Journey who will pick you up to further accompany you to the pre-booked hotel where you check in and then proceed on to the guided tour to the New Kashi Vishwanath Temple (BHU) also called Birla Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple, and Durga Temple. Get back to the hotel and stay overnight.

 

Day 02:- Varanasi 
Wake up to the early morning breakfast and start with the sightseeing ventures in one of the holiest places on earth, Varanasi. Go out to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Annapurna Devi, Vishalakshi Devi, Sankat Mochan Temple, Durga Kund, Manas Temple, and Birla Temple. Overnight stay.

 

Day 03:- Varanasi – Prayagraj 
In the wake of the morning breakfast, you will get transferred to Prayagraj where you will pay a visit to the Triveni Sangam, Prayaga Madhaveswari, Bade Hanuman temple, and also Anand Bhawan Museum, and overnight stay.

 

Day 04: - Prayagraj/Varanasi
After morning breakfast checkout and drop at Prayagraj/Varanasi
